Maymont

The weather in Virginia is perfect this time of year.  It's just the right temperature to open all the windows in the house and enjoy the fresh air.  It is also the perfect time to spend the day outdoors.  Yesterday, after some much needed coffee, we headed to Richmond.  We were originally going to visit the State Fair (1h45m away).  Due to time constraints (sleep deprivation and me having to work at 7pm) we decided to change our plans.  When I called my sister with our change of plans she suggested we go to Maymont Park. 

Maymont is a large Victorian estate located in Richmond.  It contains Maymont Mansion (a historic house museum), native wildlife exhibits, gardens, and a petting zoo, along with few other things. 

With Grady in his stroller we headed to the petting zoo.  You can buy feed to give to the goats, but we opted to just look at them. 

 We also saw some chickens, bunnies, a donkey...

 Next we hit the native wildlife exhibits.  We saw a red fox, black bear, and a bobcat

and many birds

  The landscape here is also very beautiful.  After we walked threw the wildlife we came to the bamboo forest.  You can walk through the bamboo like a maze.  However, it isn't stroller friendly so we skipped on to the Japanese gardens.

and a coi pond (where I saw four fish fighting over who got to eat the goldfish...cracker that is).

Grady enjoyed his trip to Maymont.  He was making motor noises while Taylor pushed him in the stroller. 

After Maymont we headed to Barnes and Noble for a Pumpkin Spiced Latte.  And of course, no trip to Richmond is complete without stopping at Trader Joes on the way out.

Silly me.  I was so busy taking pictures of all the animals at Maymont, I forget to (once again) photograph Grady with his Aunt Julia.
